Euchre is played with a standard deck of 24 playing cards and consists of two teams, each with two players.
During gameplay, players can order up trump to declare the suit they believe their team will win the majority of tricks with. If successful, the bidding team earns one point, and if they manage to win all five tricks, they earn two points. However, if the bidding team fails to win at least three tricks, they are "euchred" and the opposing team is awarded two points.
A player holding exceptional cards has the option to "go alone," attempting to win all five tricks without a partner. If successful, the winning partners score four points. However, if they only win three or four tricks, they earn just one point. If euchred while playing alone, the opposing team still earns two points.
When playing Euchre, it is important to remember that players are not required to play a trump suit (unless it is led), but must follow suit if possible.
